How do you feel about decanting your pantry items? Does the sight of mis-matched food packaging feed your anxiety? Have you noticed how those zip-closures never seem to work? Do you need to see a row of matching glass canisters in order to feel like there is one tiny corner of order where you actually have some semblance of control in this chaotic world?
Well then, let me tell you about the pantry canisters I love.
They are the Laramaid 27-ounce Square Glass Jars. They are from Amazon. They have bamboo lids. They have flat sides, so you can arrange them right next to each other without wasting space. And the corners are rounded, so they’re cute!
Laramaid makes canisters in a few different sizes, but I’m here to tell you that the square ones are the best size (although I’m a big fan of these little spice jars as well). They’re capacious enough to hold a few weeks’ supply of grains, nuts, or seeds. But they’re still small enough to stack on top of one another, so you can make use of your cabinet’s vertical space.
The jars come with vinyl sticker labels and erasable pens. That way, you can decant different ingredients into the same jar and just change up the label. Chance are, though, that you won’t need them, because you can probably tell the difference between short-grain and basmati rice at a glance, but it’s still a nice option to have.
The one concern with these canisters is that the glass is very thin. I feel like it’s just a matter of time before one of them breaks (and then my heart will break, too). But on the other hand, I appreciate how light they are. Knowing that these canisters are fragile forces me to slow down and move more carefully in this chaotic world.
