Two site posts in a row about our Library being a Risk-free Area for our LGBTQIA+ kiddos. Why? Since we are aggressively passionate about getting allies to our little ones. Also, the news is chock full of alarming examples in which parents, faculty districts, and communities are NOT supporting the flexibility to read through. The democratic flexibility to give ALL kids the preference to obtain publications without the need of censorship or limitations.
It boils my blood! Why does it appear to be like we’re going backwards with FREADom to study?
So, I wished to give you (dear reader!) an case in point of our Delight Thirty day period reserve exhibit, our list of Fiction textbooks, and how we advertise it to our kiddos. Most of this put up is copied from our Daring University Library Blog, Instagram posts, &
what I shared via our Canvas neighborhood announcement.
One particular of my most highly regarded Library mates, Laura C. Davies (Really like her!) who I fulfilled when I was keynoting the ASTE Tech Convention in Anchorage Alaska had this to say on my Instagram publish:
“Sure! I have my possess classroom library, entire of various publications,
and for the initial time in my vocation I really questioned if a person
would complain about my collection. I am heading to continue to keep on bringing new
guides into my classroom simply because pupils who need to have publications that inspire
inclusion know exactly where they can discover them.”
What do you consider?

You have the correct to examine whatsoever you want with comprehensive belief of confidentiality. We would never out you. But Politics can transform points. “
Yes, sadly, there are some university districts and states that want to notify mom and dad of the publications they look at out!” HORROR!
