Now under construction on the Peninsula is Springline, a 6.4-acre, mixed-use project that will bring residences, offices, outdoor space, retail businesses — and lots of restaurants — to Menlo Park.
The developer, Presidio Bay, hopes to create a new dining hub to appeal to prospective tenants of this project being billed as a Sand Hill Road 2.0 venture capital center. Most of the announced restaurants are San Francisco businesses expanding to Silicon Valley; one, Canteen, is a local product.
Among the highlights:
Canteen: This will be a new concept — think wine bar and casual bites — from chef Greg Kuzia-Carmel (Quince, Cotogna, Per Se), who already has been wowing Menlo Park food lovers at his popular Camper restaurant on Santa Cruz Avenue.
Che Fico: Named to Bon Appetit’s list of 10 best new restaurants in America for 2018, this San Francisco standout will open not just a restaurant but also an Italian marketplace with butcher counter and walk-up gelato window.
Barebottle Brewing: This S.F. beer brewer, which expanded to Santa Clara in 2020, will build its third taproom here.
Burma Love: The Burmese Superstar group of restaurants, an S.F. institution, will branch outside of the city and the East Bay with this new spot.
Robin: Look for an omakase menu and a Japanese whiskey bar from this upscale S.F. sushi purveyor.
Andytown Coffee Roasters: Another first-outside-S.F. plan from the woman-owned coffeehouse that’s been roasting in the Outer Sunset since 2014.
