ThisWeek’s Super 6 boys volleyball honorees are united in their versatility.

All the honorees are finalists to be named Captain – our boys volleyball Athlete of the Year.

Our top athletes in all 30 sports will be among the honors revealed during the Central Ohio High School Sports Awards, presented by Encova Insurance and in partnership with Nationwide Children’s Hospital Sports Medicine and Raising Cane’s. The event will be held June 15 at the Ohio Theatre. Honorees should register at tinyurl.com/2zfmn58e.

Doors open at 6:30 p.m., and the event starts at 7:30 p.m.

Here is the Super 6 for boys volleyball:

Nick Bennison

School: St. Charles

Year: Senior

Bennison was the Division II state and East Region Player of the Year while leading the Cardinals to a 19-8 season.

The 6-foot-6 senior outside hitter averaged 6.2 kills and 4.1 digs per game. The Cardinals were seeded second for the regional tournament and lost to top-seeded DeSales 25-15, 25-20, 21-25, 25-15 in their fourth consecutive regional final.

St. Charles won its fifth consecutive CCL title, going 6-0 and defeating DeSales twice.

School: Worthington Kilbourne

Year: Junior

As one of just four returning players, Haslett was the top all-around performer for the Wolves, who went 18-7 and reached a Division II, East Region semifinal.

Haslett, an outside hitter and defensive specialist, had 296 kills, 256 digs, 31 blocks and 24 aces on his way to being named first-team all-state and all-region as well as first-team all-OCC-Cardinal Division.

School: Olentangy Liberty

Year: Senior

Koknat did a little bit of everything in leading the Patriots to their second consecutive Division I state tournament. A 6-5 outside hitter, he led Liberty with 264 kills and added 137 digs, 36 aces and 22 blocks.

He was first-team all-state as well as East Region and OCC-Central Player of the Year as the Patriots went 22-4 overall and won the league at 12-0.

School: Thomas Worthington

Year: Senior

It’s the second time on the Super 6 for Kolwicz, a setter who was second-team all-state and first-team all-region in Division I while leading the Cardinals to their first league title since 1983.

Kolwicz also was OCC-Cardinal Player of the Year, finishing with 673 assists, 207 digs, 120 kills, 77 blocks and 55 aces.

Thomas won the OCC-Cardinal at 11-1 and finished 20-7 overall, losing in an East Region final.

School: Pickerington Central

Year: Senior

The outside hitter built a balanced body of work as the Tigers went 20-6 overall and 14-0 in the OCC-Ohio, winning the program’s first league championship and advancing to a Division I East Region semifinal.

Tackett, who started on varsity his entire prep career, had 137 kills, 93 aces, 192 digs and 12 blocks to earn OCC-Ohio Player of the Year, first-team all-region and second-team all-state honors.

Camren White

School: DeSales

Year: Junior

White, an outside hitter, led the Stallions in kills (217) and aces (74) as they reached their first Division II state tournament since 2016.

White also had 114 digs for DeSales, which went 20-5 overall and 4-2 in the CCL and lost to eventual champion Hamilton Badin 25-17, 25-17, 26-24 in a state semifinal. White was named first-team all-East Region and honorable mention all-state.
